How to care for your ceramics

The fine delicate ceramic used in the manufacture of mugs, tableware and giftware, is in fact, strong and durable and if looked after correctly will last for many years.

To keep the product looking at its best we would recommend hand washing as soon as possible after use and avoiding abrasive products, however the majority of us use dishwashers.  As long as your ceramics are not decorated with precious metals, it is perfectly acceptable for them to go into the dishwasher but over time with lots of usage the colour and glaze may dull slightly. 

To prolong the look of the product we would always recommend using a gentle low temperature wash cycle with a mild liquid / gel detergent, not powder or tablets. 

With some strong teas and coffees, you may notice stubborn staining over time.  We would recommend soaking in warm water before washing or using a cleansing solution such as bicarbonate of soda or barkeeper’s friend.  Always avoid abrasive materials.

Your mugs are microwave safe unless the decoration includes a precious metal.

To prevent damage such as scratches, cracks or chips, make sure the china isn’t touching other items in the dishwasher as the vibration can cause damage.  Also, when storing mugs avoid touching and stacking to prevent cracks or chipping.

Do not expose mugs to direct heat or extreme temperature changes (freezer or naked flame) as this could cause it to crack.
